Role play is one of the ways to improve the students’ speaking skill. Role play can be applied from acting, conversation, singing etc. Role play will be a good method in improving speaking if all the participants are active.
Here are some ways to implement role play in the class, such as:
Acting
Acting is exactly a good way to entertain the students, to enrich their vocabulary and to make the students be confident to speak english. The first, give a short material about a grammar or expression, please make sure that the students understand the material. After that, make an acting topic related to the material. Just like unique conversation but give them a part of that acting. Let them improve their character in acting, let them talk whatever they want but must be related to the topic. Next, see how nice the role play is.
Imitating
Imitating can be another nice way to improve the speaking skill. We can add this way by watching a movie too. first, play a short movie. Then, in the middle of playing, pause the movie, repeat the scene, and ask them to imitate the scene that we ask. Ask them to imitate the dialogue and the intonation exactly same as the player.
Well guys, there are other ways of role play which can be applied in a class. since this activity is practical, entertaining, and gets students to improve their englis, so this way can be implemented in the class and see the progress of your students’ speaking skill.
