Listening is one of important aspects in learning English. Listening is the act of hearing attentively and this skill is also needed by students in the school. Many students are really hard to catch the point of listening. Why it happen? One of factors is the teacher doesn’t have any good and fun way to make them enjoy in listening. Because most of the students don’t like to have listening in their English lesson. Students are teens and they need right way to attract them in practicing listening. As a teacher we must find fun way to make them want to practice their listening. And it is easy way to make them happy in having English listening material in the class. We can use song for listening and in this tutorial i would like to tell you how to teach English listening material by using English song.
Pre activities
- Greeting and asking students condition
- Checking the attendance list of the students
- Giving the warming up/lips service that related to the material.
- Telling the students about the material that we are going to learn.
While activities
- Playing the song. Asking the students to listen to the song then ask them to adapt their hearing.
- Spread out the copy of material to the students and let the students to see some lyrics of the song there. Then, ask them whether they have difficulties or not there.
- Playing the song again. Pointing some students to retell about the song by using their own words.
- Playing the song again. Asking the students to fill some blank lyrics in the song.
- Playing the song again. Asking the students to recheck the answer. Then, discussing it and translating the lyric about.
- Playing the song for the last and singing a song together.
Post activities
- Practicing the words with correct pronunciation and appropriate context.
