The passive voice is used to show interest in the person or object that experiences an action rather than the person or object that performs the action.
In the passive, the object of an active verb becomes the subject of the passive verb : the girl in (a) becomes the subject of the passive verb in (b)
- Active : a. Harry helped the girl
- Passive : b. the girl was helped by Harry
Form of the passive : be + past participle.
