Hello everyone, welcome back to the second article here about pronoun generally. In this occassion we will discuss about pronoun particularly. There are some pronouns that we should know in the correct grammar of English writing, here they are:
Pronoun is are words that can replace a noun or noun phrase. The pronoun serves to avoid repeating the same noun or phrase noun that has been mentioned before. Here are several explanations about the difference of using each kind of pronouns you should know.
1. Subject Pronoun
Subject pronouns replace subjects from a clause. In the third person form, subject pronouns are often used to avoid repeating the subject’s name.
Example :
- I love you more than you know.
- She is 16 years old
2. Possessive Adjective/Determiner
The adjective belongs not a pronoun, but rather the article clothing. However, we should study possessive adjectives when studying pronouns because they are similar to hers.
Example :
– I and you will go to Gramedia, we will buy our school supplies there.
– My parents are in japan right now, they are spending their holiday for three days.
3. Possessive Pronoun
Possessive Pronoun uses to replace the noun as the subject or object of a clause. Because the replaced noun does not appear in the sentence, the noun must be clearly known from the context.
Example :
– My dad gives me new sport car, the car is mine.
– Everyone knows that your are his.
4. Reflexive and Intensive Pronoun
Reflexive pronouns refer to the subject of a clause because the subject who acts is also a direct or indirect object. But Intensive pronouns emphasize the subject of a clause.
Example :
– I myself make this cake for your 17th birthday party today.
– She visits her grandpa’s house every weekend by herself.
5. Object Pronoun
Object pronouns are used to replace nouns that are direct or indirect objects of a clause.
Example :
– Those cute images are taken by him.
– You belong with me all the time.
