Hello, Speakout lovers. What’s new?
In this chance, I would like to share about students activities in Speakout Lahat.
To make teaching and learning process more interesting, at least once a month, Speakout Lahat does fun and share activities. The goal of these activities are to make students more excited to study english and also more confident to speak english in front of their friends.
Well, this month the activity was held on 26th of july 2019. Fourteen students from family class joined as participants, all of them are senior high school students. They were divided become 3 groups to follow some games that had been prepared by speakout tutors.
There were 2 games in this activity. The first game was matching pictures, and the second game was true or false statements. For the first game, tutors had prepared some compound noun pictures like; (“rain”, “coat”, and raincoat” ) or (“lips”, “stick”, and “lipstick” ) and others. Every team got the same pictures of compound nouns. Before begun the game, all of the pictures were arranged randomly for every team, then they must matched the pictures based on the right combination like the pictures of rain and coat become raincoat, and so on. To make this game more challenging, tutor played a song as a timer, so every team must finish their job before the song over.
For the second game, tutors had prepared 30 statements which consist of english lessons like vocabulary and grammar , history or general questions like traditional food from lahat, popular songs and movie, and also basic math like one hundred divided five is twenty and others. The statements were categorized into the easiest, medium, and the hardest one. To play this game, Tutor read the statements one by one to the students, after that they must guess and answer whether the statement was true or false by hold up their true or false card that had printed out by tutors. Then, tutors chose top three of the students who got high score and gave them rewards at the end of the game.
The last activity, to build students’ confident, every student must share their experiences that they had gotten from the activities.
