Hello guys
If we talk about the time, sometimes we will get confused to express. Some students just mention the number, or some students use another expression. Well, there are 3 ways to express the time, so we can choose among those ways, such as:
- using general way
In this way, we can mention the numbers directly without additional expression, like;
03.25= it is three twenty five
- 17= it is twelve seventeen
- 45= it is ten forty five
- using past and to
In this way, past is used for minutes 1 to 30, and to is used for minutes 31 to 59. Don’t forget to mention the minutes first then the hour, examples:
07.27= it is twenty seven past seven
09.30 = it is a half past nine
10.50= it is ten minutes to eleven
12.58 = it is two minutes to one
- using before and after
Before and after expressions have the same functions as past and to. They just have different way to express, for examples:
07.27= it is twenty seven after seven
09.30 = it is a half after nine
10.50= it is ten minutes before eleven
12.58 = it is two minutes before one
So, let’s try guys, and don’t forget to practice anywhere you can. See ya ^_^
