One of the most important things to be able to speak English is having many vocabularies. Before, maybe we always memorize word to word to master the vocabularies but after a week or a month we forget it and we have to review again to remember it. Here, there is a good way to help us to memorize it.
- It can be played by many people, teacher to students or friends to friends. For example, you are a teacher, you have to ask your students to make a circle
- Before, you have to prepare some vocabularies. The number of vocabularies depend on the number of your students
- You have to prepare it in small paper and fold it
- Ask each of your students to take a paper of vocabularies, it will be their names
- After they get all, ask them to introduce themselves by using the vocabularies they got as their names ( eg, Hi, my name is car, nice to meet you or Hi my name is van, nice to meet you )
- They have to do that based on their turn
- You are as a teacher have to invite your students to play but you have to explain first the role. The role is, each student has to call their friends name with the meaning of their names ( eg, car = mobil, pedicab = becak, etc ). Note : the students may not call their friends’ name next to them, if they unpurposely do it, you can give the black spot in their hands by using marker
- For the students who get many black spot, give them funny punishment, eg: singing or being a model, depend on you
- Finally ask them to remember all their friends’ name with the meaning and don’t forget to ask them to apply it to be some sentences
Trust it, that way is more effective than you have to memorize word to word.
