Buying and selling is a situation that we often find in everyday conversation especially in the Market. So many interaction in the market, for example asking price, bargaining, to make a deal on the price og things. This situation will make you confuse if you do not know how to express it in English. So it will be very useful if you have studied about it and you can talk when you have to buy something when using English. Want to know how? Please read the article on how to inquire and answer the prices of the following items

 

Example :

  1. How much it? (Berapa harga nya?)
  2. How Much are they? (Berapa harganya?)
  3. How much does it cost? ( Berapa hagranya?)
  4. How much do they cost?berapa harganya?)
  5. Are they five hundred thousand rupiah? (apakah harganya lima ratus ribu rupiah?)
  6. Does it cost ten thousand? (apakah harganya sepuluh ribu?)
  7. Is there a discount for this product? ( apakah ada diskon untuk produk ini?
  8. How big is the discount for this product? ( berapa besar diskon untuk produk ini?
  9. Could you lower the cost? (bisakah Anda menurunkan harganya?)
  10. Could I bargin it? ( bolehkan saya menawarnya?)

While below, there are different types of ways to answer the price of a product that consumers are asking.

  1. It costs only two hundred thousand rupiah. ( harganya hanya dua ratus ribu rupiah)
  2. I’m sorry, it’s a fixed price. (maaf ini harga pas)
  3. They cost 10 thousand rupiah (harganya 10 ribu rupiah)

How much is it? Could you give me discount? I am sorry we don’t have any dicount for this product It’s cheap
How musch does it cost? Could you give me lower price? We are sorry, i tis the fixed price It’s really expensive
How much is it altogether? How about (price)…….. rupiah?   It doesn’t cost that much
      It’s not really that expensive

 

Example:

Conversation

S = Seller (Penjual)
B = Buyer (Pembeli)

 

S: What can I do for you miss? (Ada yang bisa saya bantu nona?)
B: I am looking for a dress (Saya mencari sebuah gaun.)
S: A long dress or short dress? (Gaun panjang atau pendek?)
B: I prefer the long dress. (Saya lebih suka gaun panjang.)

S: Here are the long dresses miss. (Ini gaun-gaun panjangnya nona.)
B: Oh right. Em.. I am thinking about black or white dress. (Oh baiklah. Em.. Saya memikirkan gaun berwarna hitam atau putih.)
S: May I know what kind of event you will be attending miss? (Boleh saya tahu acara apa yang akan anda hadiri nona?)
B: A wedding party, but it will be held at night. (Sebuah pesta penikahan, tapi akan diadakan pada malam hari.)
S: I think it is better if you wear a black dress. It will make you looks more elegant. (Saya rasa lebih baik jika anda mengenakan gaun berwarna hitam. Itu akan membuat anda terlihat lebih elegan.)
B: Really? So, which one of these black dresses that you recommend for me? (Benarkah? Jadi, yang mana dari gaun-gaun hitam ini yang kamu rekomendasikan untuk saya?)
S: This one miss, it looks so beautiful. It will suit you. (Yang ini nona, ini sangat cantik. Ini akan sesuai untuk anda.)
B: How much does it cost? (Berapa harganya?)
S: Rp 1.000.000. (Rp 1.000.000.)
B: It’s not that expensive. I will take it. (Itu tidak terlalu mahal. Saya akan mengambilnya.)
S: Okay miss. (Baik nona.)
